Mark Gross, CEO and Founder, School Loop. Mark Gross founded School Loop in April of 2004 after testing many of the concepts while teaching social studies at Lowell High School in San Francisco, and Evergreen Valley High School In San Jose. Mark was a winner for National Semiconductor's Internet Innovator Award in 2004, and a runner up in the U.S. State Department's Doors to Diplomacy in the same year.
Prior to School Loop, Mark had a twenty-year career in magazine publishing and consumer Internet businesses. He was president of Imagine Media's Digital Division, and led the launch team for Business 2.0 magazine, presdent of FutureNet, the Internet arm of one of Europe's largest publisher of computers and games magazines, and director of new media strategies for Cowles Media Company, publishers of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and diverse magazines like Bow Hunter and Vegetarian Times (Mark still gets a kick out of that one!).
Mark is married with two school-age children who attend public school in Burlingame, California.
Paul Madera, Managing Director, Meritech Capital Partners. Paul Madera was a founder of Meritech in 1999. Today Meritech manages over $2B, investing in a wide variety of companies and technologies.
Prior to Meritech, Paul was Managing Director and Head of the Private Equity Group at Montgomery Securities/Banc of America. He began his career in finance as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he served in the United States Air Force as an F-16 Instructor Pilot and a member of the Air Force Liaison Office and representative to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees.
Paul holds a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is married and has two children and lives in the Bay Area.
