How It Works
School Loop is an integrated communication service for all members of the school community. School Loop integrates with any student information system (SIS), copies, encrypts and sends a daily update of a school's master schedule. We don't touch any behavior or health information, nor do we pull addresses or phone numbers. We use this data to build custom web sites for every member of the community, manage teacher rosters and grade books, handle semester and term transitions and more. We integrate with your current email package. School Loop pushes mail out to you so people don't need to check two mailboxes. All mail flows back through us so you have a permanent archive . . . forever. People publish mail using their real names in School Loop, not pseudonyms - they are accountable for what they publish.
While we have a grade book system that does things that no others can replicate, we also realize that many teachers love what they currently use. We allow teachers to point to any online grade book they use, or any file they post online.
IT groups love School Loop because it makes their lives easier. We host School Loop, manage all passwords and logins and provide customer support and training.
How it works: Teachers
Teachers get School Loop right away because it works the way they do: Get the most bang out of the least amount of work and time. It takes about thirty seconds for a teacher to publish an assignment in School Loop and have it automatically appear on a calendar, their web site homepages, on the homepages of each student and parent, in the grade book, and as part of a staff-accessible record of student work. Teachers get bottomless digital lockers for file storage, can create workgroups for their class, collect student work online, even pick publishing aides so students can do most of the work for them.
School Loop's grade book is unique because not only does it provide a simple, fast and safe way for teachers to record grades, but it also makes it easy for them to see students who are trending up and trending down, to recognize the small successes that are the building blocks of resiliency.
Beyond their own classes, School Loop helps teachers work in teams for student success. We automatically create workgroups of all teachers and their common students. These groups have full access to work, grades and other information posted by counselors and others interested in the students.
How it works: Students
Each student gets a custom homepage that shows them all their courses and classes. Students get safe, secure email accounts, can participate in groups created for their teams, clubs and other activities, get a bottomless digital locker for online storage, a calendar of all their assignments, and more. Students publish in their real names, creating an environment of accountability to accompany the tools School Loop gives them. If these rights are abused, they can be suspended from the system.
For students, assignments are dynamic: Each assignment has an associated discussion and a "Turn Work In" link so work can be handed in online. Discussions are designed so that students can help each other in a public forum. It's amazing to see students working together online.
How it works: Administrators
School Loop makes it easy for administrators to communicate with the whole community through a targeted news publishing tool, the ability to create and participate in groups and to start and manage projects. Administrators and the whole staff get a full statistics package showing system usage and participation, can create donation programs by automatically posting a parent appeal, maintain system integrity by accessing all accounts, and more. Administrators can also help their staffs focus on the need of targeted groups of students by creating special High Priority Groups.
How it works: Counselors and Non-Teaching Staff
School Loop provides accounts for all school staff, not just teachers. We recognize that a school is a dynamic community and the people most in need of information and communication tools are people without rosters but with tons of responsibility for students. All registered staff members have access to all students in School Loop, making it easy for counselors to know in a snap what's up with a particular student and email that student's teachers. Moreover, we make it easy to publish 504's and other support-related materials to staff-only areas, putting the critical information teachers need near the information and tools to act on that information.
How it works: Parents
Parents get all the same features as students except digital lockers, discussions and the ability to turn work in. For parents, School Loop is a great tool for being informed up-to-the day on their kid's status in school, enabling them to be more actively involved in their child's progress. For Spanish-speaking homes, School Loop's interface can be set to appear in Spanish. (Coming soon: full translation into multiple languages).
